It's your lucky day!

I was really excited Sunday when I found $10 in a pair of jeans from my closet. So excited that I spent it!

We spent some money we probably shouldn't have this past weekend! Prince Charming took me to a movie - might I add that I always flash our student ID's ($2.00 off each ticket) I'm keeping that ID forever! I had a giftcard for Kohls - so like any other normal woman I spent more than the gift card balance.

Our envelope budget is kind of not working - honestly I have 2 issues with the envelope system.
1) It was not necessary to have $$ in the grocery envelope because I have a full fridge (shopping last week) so we have spent that money differently... which defeats the purpose. This envelope will make better sense when I start grocery shopping on a weekly basis. BTW- I will discuss later why weekly grocery shopping is necessary to save money when using coupons.

2) Gas Envelope doesn't really work for us. I may delete the gas envelope all together because we ALWAYS use our debit cards for gas. Also I don't think this is something I can limit with our lifestyle. Prince Charming goes to college 30 minutes away from our home and I am constantly driving with my MK business. Did I mention I write off all my MK mileage anyway?

I do love the envelope system - I just think it has to be a trial and error system until you find what fits for your family.

Another thing - I have been wanting to purchase some books off Amazon - I kept watching the prices and could not justify spending $$$ on books right now after we spent $400 on books for Prince Charming's classes.
So I read about Coinstar not charging fees when you choose to get an ecertificate. So I collected some change from a jar, the car and a few random drawers in the house and got $36.87 dollars to use as I please on Amazon!

Can 2 people surive off $150 a week?

I have implemented an envelope budget into our financial plan. An envelope budget is where you set aside money in designated envelopes for designated purposes.
Here is how our breakdown:

Gas Envelope $70
Food Envelope $50
Entertainment/Miscellaneous $30

Total $150

I am using cash because I feel it is symbolic because "when it's gone it"s gone" and we tend to not think about our account balance that much when we swipe our debit cards all the time.

I even busted out my markers and color coded our envelopes! Fun little mini project while I was making dinner for Prince Charming.
That's another thing - I was reading another pf blog and they used alias names. So consider me Cinderella (Cindy for short) and the hubby Prince Charming.

Introduction to my blog

At one of my MK meetings someone said " if you write a goal down then you have to live up to your goal". In other words if you write it in print then you really need to hold yourself accountable. For months I have read Personal Finance blogs for my own education and pleasure and I have been thinking of starting my own for some time.
I have been happily married for over a year to my sweet husband. We do not have children but would love to start a family sometime next year. There are 2 things holding us back. 1) I would like to lose 20lbs before I get pregnant. This is not something I plan on discussing on this blog but I figure I should write that one out down too so I have no choice but to diet and exercise!
2) We would like some of our debts paid off before we start a family. I have listed our debts and balances as of today on my blog. I have excluded my mortgage and a large student loan. I know those should be included in my debt but right now we have no intention of paying those off in the next year. I simply selected the debts I felt were most feasible in attacking. We plan on using a version of Dave Ramsey's Babysteps in our journey. We have somewhat of an emergency fund (or savings) and plan on attacking our smallest debt first.
In between making payments and discussing our debt accomplishments I will share some of my frugal tips. These tips may be things I already do on a monthly basis or things I have read on other PF blogs and I would like to try.
